Kelly: After working in the corporate advertising world for 11 years, I followed my dream of becoming a teacher. I am now an M.Ed. and full-time private tutor for both students with learning disabilities, as well as any students who need one-on-one assistance. I have seen amazing progress with my students, and I love what I do. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TEACHING STRATEGY? Kelly: Building a relationship with my students is of the utmost importance where learning outcomes are concerned. After learning about my students’ strengths and weaknesses, I teach using a combination of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic methods. I cater my tutoring around the student - not a set of workbooks or pre-set curriculum. I am not confined to one way of doing things - I stay flexible. WHAT TYPES OF STUDENTS DO YOU LIKE TO WORK WITH? Kelly: I work with students in 2nd-5th grade in all subjects, as well as 6th-12th grade in reading and writing.

Hobbies
I moved to South Africa from the US to help people. Besides tutoring, I am a full-time missionary, where I teach and tutor in township areas free of charge. I am very involved with my Church, GRACE LIFE in Stellenbosch. I have found amazing friends there and teach children's church on Sunday nights. I believe in differentiated Learning, web 2.0 teaching tools and student specific interventions for real growth in subject matter.
